Visit from Chef
On Monday 16th June, Boon Li an apprentice chef from Nobu at Crown visited the Certificate II Kitchen Operations class.
He is part of the Future Now - Hospitality Ambassadors program.
Boon demonstrated a dish to the students while telling his story about how he became a chef and some of the challenges he faced along the way. He spoke about the importance of life goals and setting your sights high. He was an inspirational speaker as well as showing the students how to use unusual ingredients such as agave syrup (from mexico similar to Maple syrup) and shitime seasoning (Japanese 7 spice powder). The students enjoyed eating the delicious chicken and grape dish served with orange polenta and got to take home a goodie bag which included information on career pathways to work in the Hospitality Industry. Boon is to return next term to work with another group of Food students.
