Atwell College

Sports Shorts

Last week our Year 10 students represented our College in the annual South Coastal Zone Sports Carnival.

Over 100 students were entered into 5 sports across 4 venues and as usual our students performed well and conducted themselves in a positive way, which is what we expect from Atwell College students.

Hosting the AFL at Atwell Reserve, our boys finished 2nd in their pool and demonstrated to coach McLeod patches of good cohesive football. A 40 point win over South Fremantle SHS was a good example of this.

In the Touch Rugby our boys battled hard against strong opposition to finish 3rd overall and in the Soccer a 2nd place finish including an exciting 3-2 win against John Curtin Soccer Academy was an impressive result.

Our Boys Basketball team also finished runner up with a 4 wins and 1 loss ratio, which coach Dimech was happy with, while the Girls team battled hard finishing 3rd including a memorable win against Willetton SHS, after being down on the scoreboard for most of the game.

Finally our Netball teams all had a productive day (see summary provided) impressing coaches with their commitment and teamwork.

All in all a very successful carnival - congratulations to all students on their efforts and a special thankyou to all the staff involved who managed teams on the day.
